"Talent management is on the agenda of nearly every organisation, public or private. The definition and scope of what we include as ‘talent’ however is very variable. The key processes of talent planning, resourcing, development, and retention are well known – but what does it mean to do these in an integrated and strategic way, rather than being merely reactive? And how important is a shared culture of talent nurture to the success of these processes?” Andrew Mayo will discuss an integrated framework for identifying and managing talent, and provide practical examples. The session will be fully interactive with opportunity for discussion and inter-organisational learning.

The Speaker

Andrew Mayo is a well-known international consultant, speaker and author. He was for many years a Programme Director at London Business School and is Professor of Human Capital Management at Middlesex University Business School. He previously spent nearly 30 years in a variety of senior roles in large international organisations. 
Andrew's book, "The Human Value of the Enterprise"has been influential. Dave Ulrich, co-author of The HR Scorecard, said of the book, "The ‘Human capital Monitor' architecture encompasses research to date and offers a pragmatic way to assess people performance in a firm. I learned a lot from reading the book and will refer to it frequently as a disciplined roadmap for deriving human capital value." Andrew is also author of The Power of Learning (described by Director as "the best book on a learning organization"); Managing Careers; Creating a Learning and Development Strategy, and (2012) Human Captal or Human Resources – managing People as Assets”. He has also written two extensive Guideline publications - "The Measurement of Human Capital" for the ICAEW, and "Return on investment in HR" for Personnel Today. 
Andrew is a director of Mayo Learning International, a consultancy that specialises in the development and measurement of human capital, and he and his colleagues work across a large range of organizations, both private and public, in the UK and abroad. 
Andrew was for 5 years President of the HR Society
