One-day problem solving and decision making workshop

Tuesday 10th July 2018 from 10:00 until 16:15

• Do you struggle with finding effective ways to solve problems at work?

• Do you find it hard to make the right decisions?

• Do you sometimes fail to be able to justify the decisions you've made?

• Do you get stumped by seemingly insoluble problems?

• Do you find it hard to choose between the options you are faced with?

If the answer to any (or all) of these problems is yes, then this practical
one-day workshop is just for you!
The workshop will help you become an effective problem solver and decision maker. To do this, we will provide you with a comprehensive set of tools to use, and practical training on how to use them. By the end of the workshop, you will have a wide range of new techniques to use, and the skills and confidence to use them effectively back at work.
You will do this by learning (among other things) how to:

  • Adopt proven problem solving and decision making methodologies

  • Identify the core problem in a complex situation and understand that the core problem may not be what you think it is

  • Use analytical techniques including PMI, Repertory Grid, Decision Tree, Force Field and Paired Comparison

  • Recognise how your own thinking affects your ability to solve problems

  • Understand that different ways of thinking can improve (or impair) your ability to solve problems and make decisions

  • Gain an insight into Lateral Thinking and Six Thinking Hats techniques

  • Identify the links between decision making and problem solving

  • Recognise the importance of risk assessment in problem solving

  • Understand the impact of time pressures on effective problem solving.

The Speaker

The workshop facilitator is Jon Robinson, who is an innovation and ideas specialist. He has wide experience of finding ways to solve intractable problems (often by thinking outside traditional approaches), and making difficult decisions (sometimes on the basis on incomplete information).
Jon will not only give you practical and easy-to-use tools, but also expert advice based on his many years successful experience. He will also provide you with a way of accessing his advice and guidance on problem-solving and decision-making after the workshop day.
This workshop is suitable for people at all levels in the organisation who need to solve problems or make decisions.
